Después de 22 años en el rock and roll, con más de 20 lanzamientos y cientos de espectáculos en países como Suecia, EE. UU., Dos en el festival South By Southwest, Noruega, Dinamarca, Italia, Croacia, Gran Bretaña, Alemania, Eslovenia, Finlandia, España. Holanda, Bélgica y Japón, la banda ha editado desde principios hasta mediados del 2018 un puñado de singles y un álbum que es una colaboración con otro legendario punk rock, Jeff Dahl.
«DEMONS» se formó oficialmente en 1995 después de que los miembros habían estado en diferentes bandas desde finales de los 80’s. Al principio, se desarrolló un estilo que dependía en gran medida de las bandas más escabrosas de los 70, el punk rock y el garage así como el rock psicodélico de los 60. Un álbum estaba listo para ser editado desde 1995, pero desafortunadamente nunca fue publicado. Partes de esa grabación se dividieron en varios recopilatorios en ’96 y ’97. Ese mismo año, el single debut, «Electrocute» fue lanzado en el sello estadounidense Ruff Nite Records (una canción que The Hellacopters versiones en su último álbum «Head Off»).
«DEMONS» se convirtió rápidamente en una importante banda en la escena del rock escandinavo junto con los Hellacopters, Turbonegro y más tarde The Hives entre otros. En 1998, Tomas Skogsberg (Entombed / Hellacopters y más) produjo el EP de seis pistas «Demons» Come Bursting Out! «, Fue lanzado en un pequeño sello con sede en Estocolmo. Recibió excelentes críticas tanto en Suecia como en el resto del mundo. La banda luego se centró en los EE. UU. y firmó con Gearhead Records en 1999. Donde editarían su álbum debut «Riot Salvation».
En el año 2000 comenzó su agitado programa de giras y la banda estuvo constantemente en movimiento durante cuatro años. Cuando llegaron a finales de 2004, realizaron varias giras de costa a costa en los Estados Unidos, Europa y Japón y tocaron SXSW un par de veces, así como otros eventos importantes en todo el mundo. Durante estos años, la banda también lanzó los álbumes Riot Salvation, Stockholm Slump, the retrospective Demonolog y la colección-recopilación en un doble cd en Japón para el mercado japonés.
Durante el verano de 2004, «DEMONS» grabó lo que se suponía que sería su tercer álbum de larga duración para Gearhead. Lamentablemente dejaron el sello tras las diferencias creativas. El álbum aún no se ha publicado en su totalidad. El grupo continuó de gira pero no grabó un álbum hasta 2006, cuando el EP «(Her Name Was) Tragedy» fue lanzado en su propio sello Alaska Productions en colaboración con Swedish Punks (una división de Klubb Super 8).
En 2008, el grupo lanzó «Ace in the Hole» en Alaska. Se convirtió en el disco más aclamado por la crítica hasta la fecha.
Al mismo tiempo, los Hellacopters lanzaron su último álbum «Head Off», que se abre con una versión de Electrocute. La banda fue invitada a unirse a ellos para su gira de despedida, The Tour Before the Fall.
En 2010 la banda estaba desilusionada y cansada del negocio de la música. Eligieron volver completamente a sus raíces y crear algo que fuera totalmente D.I.Y. Durante el año armaron su disco más ambicioso hasta la fecha, «Scarcity Rock». El álbum fue grabado y producido por la banda en su estudio a las afueras de Estocolmo. El material era oscuro y crudo y la banda expresaba conscientemente influencias que habían sido olvidadas u ocultas en las sombras. Al final del disco, una puerta se cierra de golpe, simbólica para el frío que la banda había experimentado con el negocio de la música en Suecia.
«Scarcity Rock» fue más o menos ignorado en Escandinavia, pero obtuvo una puntuación de 7 en escala de 10 en el American Classic Rock. Un hecho que lo dice todo.
Después del lanzamiento de ese álbum y su siguiente gira en 2011, la banda se tomó un descanso. «DEMONS» regresó en 2015 y lanzó el single antifascista «Kids are Gonna Cry» en su propio sello. A partir de 2017 volvieron a estar activos a tiempo completo y realizaron giras a finales de año.
«DEMONS» ya ha lanzado dos nuevos singles en 2018, aparecieron en una compilación en Bad Bongo Records. El siguiente disco es la compilación de cuatro bandas Demolition Derby en Retro Vox Records. Asi como el reciente mini álbum con Jeff Dahl y otro single.
Un nuevo álbum saldrá a principios de 2019 y lo presentaran en la península , no dejes escapar esta oportunidad de tener toda una autentica banda de las principios del rock escandinavo que tanto nos gusta!!!
